BiTMICRO Networks Selects QualCore Logic to Develop Analog IP Cores
Under terms of the agreement, QualCore Logic will develop USB physical (PHY) and other analog IP cores that will be used in BiTMICRO’s TALINO™ and ISIP™ family of semiconductor storage solutions. By taking advantage of QualCore Logic’s expertise, BiTMICRO hopes to achieve a higher level of integration and performance for its next-generation SSDs at a lower cost. As a result, many of the previous barriers to entry for solid-state storage applications are eliminated and BiTMICRO can penetrate a much broader, deeper market for its storage products.
“QualCore Logic’s superior technical capabilities, its flexible business model and outstanding technical support make it the perfect partner,” says Rey Bruce, BiTMICRO chief executive officer (CEO). “We have exacting requirements and believe that the QualCore Logic team can meet them.”
The cores, available in the second half of 2007, will be implemented in 90- and 130-nanometer standard CMOS process technologies from two of the leading commercial foundries and integrated into BiTMICRO’s system-on-chip (SoC) designs. QualCore Logic will develop a test chip to extensively validate that the IP works as intended. The cores will include a complete set of deliverables required for fast, easy integration.
“We are pleased to be selected by BiTMICRO to help develop the next-generation solid state disk drives,” states Mahendra Jain, president and CEO of QualCore Logic. “Its products must offer rugged reliability and we welcome the challenge.”
Visit BiTMICRO Networks at Booth 2145 of FOSE 2007. Taking place on March 20-22, 2007 at the Washington DC Convention Center, the event attracts thousands of public sector IT professionals for what show organizers have billed as the largest technology conference and exhibition for government.
About TALINO™ and ISIP™
BiTMICRO Networks' next-gen Translation and Linking of I/O Nodes (TALINO™) controllers comprise a family of Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) devices that succeed the highly successful disk controller chipset of BiTMICRO's electronic disk technology. On the other hand, the Intelligent Storage Interconnect Platform (ISIP™) is a complementary line of flash memory management interface controllers that is designed to orchestrate massively parallel and multi-block I/O operations on large arrays of flash devices.
