CEVA's Fully Programmable Mobile Multimedia Solution Passes Allegro H.264 Test Suite
Silicon-Proven MM2000(TM) Platform Now Fully Certified Against H.264 Standard Specification
SAN JOSE, Calif. and GRENOBLE, France, March 28, 2007 -- CEVA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CEVA; LSE: CVA), a leading licensor of innovative intellectual property (IP) platform solutions and DSP cores for wireless, consumer and multimedia applications, and Allegro, a leading provider of H.264/MPEG-4 AVC solutions, today announced that CEVA's MM2000(TM) programmable multimedia platform has passed the Allegro test suite for H.264 Baseline Profile Levels 2 and 3, including Syntax and Stress tests. H.264/AVC is a compression video standard that brings a 50 percent bitrate saving over the well-established MPEG-2 standard.
Allegro's test streams have a worldwide reputation in the video industry for professional video conformance testing, especially for H.264. The compliance of MM2000 against Allegro's syntax and stress test streams certifies that CEVA's H.264 Codec is fully functional and reliable in terms of the H.264 standard specification. MM2000, a member of the Mobile-Media family of solutions from CEVA, is a silicon-proven multimedia platform for mobile devices supporting advanced video encoders and decoders up to SD resolution. In addition to the H.264 codec, the scalable solution offers a broad range of plug-and-play video, audio and imaging codecs including, MPEG4 Simple Profile, MPEG4 Advanced Simple Profile, JPEG, MP3, HE-AAC, WMA and more.
"The validation of our H.264 Codec IP by Allegro guarantees exceptional quality and performance for H.264-based multimedia System-on-Chip solutions based on our MM2000 platform," said Erez Bar-Niv, Chief Technology Officer at CEVA. "CEVA is committed to ensuring that all of our multimedia IP conforms with industry-standard specifications, and by passing Allegro certifications, our customers are guaranteed that CEVA codecs are fully compliant with the H.264 standard."
"We are pleased to have been chosen by a leading provider of multimedia IP like CEVA for validation of their H.264 video codec IP," said Pierre Marty, CEO of Allegro. "CEVA's decision to choose our certification program is a further endorsement of our growing reputation as the de facto provider of H.264 test streams in the semiconductor and electronics industries."
CEVA has already licensed the Mobile-Media platform to eight leading customers, with initial products based on this platform expected to reach the market in early 2008. CEVA recently demonstrated the latest advances in this silicon-proven multimedia platform at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona and the IIC China Conference & Exhibition in Beijing and Shanghai.
