Express Logic's ThreadX RTOS Supports AMCC's PowerPC 405EZ Acadia Evaluation Kit
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- April 2, 2007 -- Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced that its market leading ThreadX RTOS supports AMCC’s newly announced PowerPC 405EZ Acadia Evaluation Kit. The PowerPC 405EZ embedded processor provides a low power and small footprint system-on-a-chip solution for a wide range of high-performance, cost-constrained embedded applications—a perfect match for Express Logic’s ThreadX RTOS.
Express Logic’s ThreadX RTOS, deployed in over 450 million electronic products, complements AMCC’s PowerPC 405EZ, offering a small memory footprint and lightning-fast interrupt response. ThreadX delivers the performance of the PowerPC 405EZ with low overhead, and its royalty-free licensing makes high volume applications able to meet tight manufacturing cost constraints. These strengths provide an ideal solution for large volume products in instrumentation, data acquisition, industrial automation, building and enclosure management, commercial and retail systems, Internet appliances, and intelligent USB peripherals.
"We are delighted that Express Logic is providing ThreadX for the 405EZ processor", said Charlie Ashton, director of software at AMCC. "We believe that the features of ThreadX are a good fit for our target markets and look forward to working with Express Logic to achieve design wins at our mutual customers."
AMCC and Express Logic enjoy a long-standing relationship. The availability of ThreadX for the 405EZ Acadia kit adds to the already extensive support that ThreadX provides for AMCC’s PowerPC 405/440-based SoC products. In addition. Express Logic’s NetX™ TCP/IP stack, FileX® FAT-compatible file system, USBX™ USB host/device stack, and PEGX™ GUI development kit also are available for AMCC’s 405EZ processor to help developers speed products to market in the shortest possible time.
“The complementary nature of AMCC’s PowerPC product line with our ThreadX RTOS, and our ongoing support for these new evaluation kits, enable developers to apply PowerPC technology to embedded applications,” commented William E. Lamie, president of Express Logic. “Like AMCC, we believe in minimizing development time. The 405EZ Acadia kit speeds customers to market, and the use of ThreadX will play an important role in that endeavor.”
Shipping and Availability
ThreadX will be available for the PowerPC 405EZ Acadia Evaluation Kit in May, with royalty-free, full source code licenses starting at $12,500.
