Ittiam Systems Gets the Coveted 'Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(TM)' for its 802.11g IP
One of the Select Few IP Companies in the World to Get Certified for 11g
BANGALORE, India -- April 4, 2007 -- Ittiam Systems, a leader in providing digital media processing & communication Intellectual Property (IP) solutions, today announced that it has achieved the most well known "Wi-Fi Certification" from the Wi-Fi Alliance(R) for IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, WPA(TM), WPA2(TM) and EAP for its WLAN IP.
Wi-Fi chipset sales reached 200 million units in 2006, according to analyst firm In-Stat. These numbers are further expected to grow significantly as more and more consumer appliances start integrating WLAN as part of their system. Since CE devices are driven heavily by cost and form factor, WLAN IP integrated SOC solutions for wireless gadgets will emerge as winners in this segment.
Since 2000, more than 3,300 products have been Wi-Fi CERTIFIED(TM). Such certifications have laid the foundation for rapid adoption of Wi-Fi products in homes, offices and public access locations around the world. Through comprehensive testing, the Wi-Fi Alliance certification program ensures that Wi-Fi products from multiple manufacturers work with each other. Such Wi-Fi CERTIFIED approvals lead to improved user experience, higher customer satisfaction, reduced costs and smoother interoperability at Wi-Fi ZONE(TM) hotspots.
"Organizations such as Ittiam that seek Wi-Fi certification have taken a significant step to assure a good experience for their customers. Users rely on the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED brand to indicate assured interoperability as well as the latest security protections," said Wi-Fi Alliance Managing Director Frank Hanzlik.
"Wireless LAN is a critical IP in our portfolio that we have been licensing to markets worldwide. The Wi-Fi Certification from Wi-Fi Alliance confirms the capability of the IP and also provides high level of confidence to our existing and future customers, on our company. This certification will make Ittiam's IP to be true plug & play on the WLAN based Silicon solutions," said Srini Rajam, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ittiam Systems.
Ittiam Systems' 802.11a/b/g/i/e MAC and 802.11a/b/g physical layer silicon IP is delivered as a synthesizable Verilog RTL along with extensive documentation, verification test benches and floating and fixed point simulation models. Ittiam provides a hardware verification platform capable of validating real-time operation and performance at 54 Mbps with the physical layer on a FPGA (field programmable gate array). It also demonstrates the interoperability of the wireless LAN IP over the air using multiple RF chipsets.
Ittiam's WLAN IP is already licensed to many customers across the world.
