GDA Collaborates With AMD to Develop Home Cinema Design
San Jose, CA -- May 11, 2007 -- GDA Technologies Inc., a leading Electronic Design Services (EDS) and Silicon Intellectual Property (SIP) solution provider for embedded, networking, and consumer electronics markets, today announced its successful collaboration with AMD to create a new reference design that OEMs can leverage to quickly bring to market an AMD LIVE!™ Home Cinema.
As part of the popular AMD LIVE! solution, the AMD LIVE! Home Cinema is designed to help consumers simplify their digital lifestyle, eliminating clutter under the television and reducing the number of remote controls. The GDA Home Cinema reference design includes the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner, a DVD burner and a D2Audio digital amplifier. This all-in-one consumer electronics system with PC-capability can serve the functions of a number of audio visual devices including a DVD player, DVR and set-top box, which equates to fewer boxes and wires in the living room.
“The GDA-developed Home Cinema reference design enables OEMs to create their own unique, high-performance entertainment systems with cool and quiet operation in a small form factor,” said Levi Murray, Director of Technology Enablement for AMD. “The assistance of GDA was critical to developing a living room-focused solution that can help OEM customers respond to the needs of today’s digital consumer.”
GDA accomplished the complete system-level product design, development, and validation in a record seven months, delivering a design that is easily customizable by original design manufacturers (ODMs) in terms of feature enhancements, form-factors and more.
“Innovations in the home entertainment space and convergence in living room devices are realities,” noted Gopa Periyadan, General Manager and Vice President of GDA’s System and Software Business Unit. “GDA is excited to be part of creating a product that enhances user experience, bringing the digital experience to a new level. Our technical expertise and ability to execute under a tight deadline helped AMD create and demonstrate a successful working prototype.”
