KPIT Cummins develops AUTOSAR 2.0 Compliant MCAL Layer and ECU Abstraction Layer
Mumbai -- May 14 2007: KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd (BSE: 532400; NSE: KPIT), one of the Premium Members of AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System Architecture), announced today the development of the fully AUTOSAR 2.0 Compliant Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) and ECU Abstraction Layer (Communication Hardware Abstraction Modules for CAN and LIN, Onboard Device Abstraction Modules and Memory Hardware Abstraction Modules) for a world-leading Semiconductor manufacturer. The product was delivered in just over six months.
MCAL is a set of Microcontroller Drivers that act as an interface between the hardware and the AUTOSAR Services Layer and Application Layer. The MCAL developed by KPIT Cummins is built in compliance with quality standard SEI CMMI Level 5 and especially to the Configuration concept of AUTOSAR. ECU Abstraction Layer offers Microcontroller hardware and ECU hardware independent interface to the Services Layer and the Application Layer for access to peripherals and devices.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Anup Sable, VP, Automotive & Allied Embedded & Tools LOB, KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd., said, “This is a significant milestone in KPIT’s technology roadmap to a leadership position as this was the first engagement with the customer and resulted in the customer’s total satisfaction.
