Aware Announces Licensing Agreement with PMC-Sierra for VDSL2
BEDFORD, Mass. -- June 7, 2007 -- Aware, Inc. (Nasdaq: AWRE - News), a leading supplier of broadband technology, today announced PMC-Sierra, Inc. (Nasdaq: PMCS - News) as a new licensee of Aware's StratiPHY3(TM) VDSL2 technology. As a leading provider of broadband communications semiconductors, PMC-Sierra is using Aware's StratiPHY3 technology for its MSP7140 VDSL2 residential gateway system on a chip (SoC) product.
"We are pleased to be working with PMC-Sierra as it executes on its digital home strategy," commented Edmund Reiter, Aware's president. "PMC-Sierra's latest product demonstrates a deep understanding of the multi-service gateway market, and we welcome our expanded partnership as a further endorsement of StratiPHY(TM) as the most effective way to develop and maintain high-performance and interoperable DSL-enabled SoCs."
With an integrated VDSL2 modem, PMC-Sierra's MSP7140 is ideally suited for multi-service VDSL2-based gateways. The MSP7140 device, with Aware's StratiPHY3, is interoperable with legacy VDSL1 and emerging VDSL2 central office chipset solutions, and is backwards compatible to ADSL2+. The MSP7100 SDK also supports PMC-Sierra's MSP7120/30 ADSL2+, which uses Aware's StratiPHY2+ IP.
Aware will be demonstrating its industry-leading StratiPHY3-based multi-vendor VDSL2 interoperability this month at NXTcomm in Chicago.
