Xilinx Announces Scalable LogiCORE FlexRay controller IP
New IP adds to MOST and CAN automotive solutions for In-Vehicle Networks
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- June 19, 2007 -- Xilinx, Inc., announced today immediate availability of the industry's first single-channel LogiCORE(TM) FlexRay(TM) controller IP, optimized for the Xilinx(R) Automotive (XA) Spartan(TM)-3 generation devices. FlexRay, a time-triggered and deterministic communication protocol from the FlexRay Consortium is quickly gaining traction in the industry as an automotive networking standard, capable of up to 10Mbps (megabits per second) baud rates. The IP Core seamlessly works with the middleware stack and drivers developed by Vector, an industry leader in automotive development tools and software components. Xilinx has also recently completed work with Vector to develop and release low-level drivers for its CAN LogiCORE IP for the automotive market.
With today's announcement, Xilinx further strengthens its solution offerings targeted at automotive applications such as driver assistance systems, gateway, or other applications where real-time, deterministic, communication between system components are critical. The company continues to heavily invest in building optimized and flexible in-vehicle networking IP cores for the XA line of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to better serve the automotive market.
The LogiCORE FlexRay controller IP takes full advantage of the configurability and scalability of Xilinx programmable logic technology. "Tier One and OEM automakers looking for a real-time high-speed replacement for CAN will find that the flexibility to configure the number of transmit and receive buffers, for example, allow for a network interface truly optimized for the application at hand," said Nick DiFiore, automotive system architect and solutions manager at Xilinx.
