Sunplus Presents World's First DVD SoC Solution SPHE8203A with DivX HD Playability
Sunplus’ SPHE8203A DVD turnkey solution has plenty multimedia added-on features, such as DVD servo control, MPEG1/2/4 video decode, MP3/AAC/PCM audio decode, USB and card reader functions, DVB transport stream demultiplexing, and HDMI 1.2 compliant transmitter. The superior compression and performance of DivX HD enables consumers to enjoy true HD A/V entertainment with legacy DVD-9 discs on SPHE8203A-inside DVD players, at a price point which is much more cost-effective than next-generation blue-laser players.
SPHE8203A also supports many advanced features such as built-in up-scaler, 3D de-interlacer, and 1080p HDMI transmitter which make it easier to directly connect DVD player to any Full-HD TV. With the on-chip DVB transport stream demultiplexer and rich I/O configurations, more feature-up applications, such as A/V receiver, can be built-up with SPHE8203A easily.
“We are excited to work with Sunplus to offer a solution to market that will enable our customers to support the playback of DivX HD content,” said Kevin Hell, Acting CEO of DivX, Inc. “Thanks to the strong growth in HD recording devices and the emergence of sites with high-quality, HD content, there has been a recent explosion in the amount of compelling HD content available in the DivX format. We look forward to bringing the DivX HD experience beyond the PC and enabling consumers to enjoy their contents on a wide variety of devices through Sunplus’ new SoC solution.”
“We're delighted to continue our strong and mutually beneficial relationship with DivX Corp. to bring SPHE8203A, the world’s first DVD SoC solution to support DivX HD contents,” said Mr. Ho-Jung Ou, the president of Sunplus’ Home Entertainment Business Unit. “By combining DivX’s excellent HD technology and Sunplus’ leading-edge video/audio codec technology, we can offer OEMs, ODMs, and brand-name makers the most cost-optimized DVD solution with the best image quality.”
“Sunplus keeps developing IC and system solutions that meet the leading-edge technology and standards in the market. We look forward to seeing consumers surprised as they experience the amazing video quality presented by the DVD players embedded with Sunplus new generation DVD SoC solution, SPHE8203A,” said Mr. C.C. Huang, the chairman and CEO of Sunplus.
