MIPS Technologies Builds on Leadership Position in Products for the Digital Living Room
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - October 29, 2007 - MIPS Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer, networking, personal entertainment, communications and business applications, today announced that SiS Holding Ltd., a subsidiary of Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), has licensed the MIPS32® 24KcTM synthesizable processor core to advance development of applications for consumer electronics.
Asia Pacific continues to be the fastest growing region for MIPS Technologies, driving the company's continued leadership in markets including cable set-top boxes, DVD recorders and cable modems. According to market research firm In-Stat in its Consumer Electronics Rollup 2007, the market for these digital consumer products is expanding significantly: DVD recorders are growing at a 33% annual rate, set top boxes will see 18.5% growth through 2010, and portable digital audio players will show significant worldwide growth of 41.8% annually.
