Silicon Image Licenses Impinj's AEON/MTP Nonvolatile Memory for High-Volume Consumer Electronics and Computing Chips
SEATTLE, Wash., November 2, 2007 – Leading logic nonvolatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP) supplier, Impinj, Inc., today announced that Silicon Image, a leading provider of semiconductors for the secure storage, distribution and presentation of high-definition content, has licensed Impinj’s AEON® NVM cores to embed system-critical application data in high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) and serial advanced technology attachment (SATA) chips.
Silicon-proven at the world’s leading semiconductor foundries, Impinj’s AEON/MTP NVM cores deliver significant design and cost advantages to system-chip designers targeting high-volume applications, including power management, digital rights management and the integration and testing of high-performance analog circuitry. AEON/MTP’s multiple-time programmable capability enables features such as security key refresh capability, in-field user data configuration and in-field performance optimization.
“Silicon Image is delivering high-function chips to some of the fastest growing electronics industry sectors,” said Larry Morrell, vice president and general manager of IP Products at Impinj. “We are very pleased that Impinj’s AEON/MTP cores have been chosen to help meet the growing demand for silicon innovation required for those sectors.”
“Our market-leading chips for home entertainment and other electronic products must have reliable, embedded NVM with multiple-time programmability,” said Eric Almgren, vice president of Business Development and Intellectual Property at Silicon Image. “Impinj’s AEON/MTP is the market-leading standard for NVM IP and we look forward to the new functionality it will bring to our chip designs.”
