Certess Closes 2007 with 3X Growth, More Than 25 Active Customer Sites in Four Continents
Functional qualification hailed as a “big step forward in the path for objective verification quality measurement”
CAMPBELL, Calif. — January 17, 2008 — Certess, Inc. the provider of functional qualification tools for systems on a chip (SoCs), today announced that the company’s fiscal year 2007 bookings tripled over the previous year. Since the launch of its flagship functional qualification product Certitude, Certess has been deployed at more than 25 active customer sites on four continents. Three of the top five semiconductor companies and two of the top three networking companies are using Certitude to optimize their verification resources and budgets. Customers include integrated device manufacturers, fabless semiconductor companies, and system manufacturers throughout the world.
Also in 2007, Certess welcomed its first customer in Japan, opened an office in Israel, and signed on distributors in Japan, India, and Scandinavia.
“In the year since we introduced the concept of functional qualification to the design community, it has achieved an overwhelming welcome,” said Michel Courtoy, president and CEO of Certess. “Our growth this year is directly related to our commitment to customers to remove the uncertainties associated with verification.”
Functional qualification tackles the most formidable problem in functional verification today: the absence of objective quality assurance in systems on a chip (SoCs) and intellectual property (IP) blocks. Functional qualification provides a direct measure of the quality of the verification environment to find functional errors, by identifying missing tests or checkers based on whether injected errors are activated, propagated and detected. Certitude answers the question: if there was a bug in your design, could your verification environment find it?
“Functional qualification is clearly another big step forward in the path for objective measurement of verification.” said Brian Bailey, an independent consultant and author of numerous articles and books on the verification of electronic designs. “Certitude is the first solution with the ability to measure if tests find actual errors which is a fundamentally better indicator than the ability to increase some coverage metric. It is the first tool to address the complete process of activation, propagation and detection of actual bugs in a verification environment.”
