Eureka Technology's SD Host Controller IP Core Available in Altera's Automotive Infotainment Development Platform
Jointly developed by Altera and TRS-STAR GmbH, the PARIS platform is the industry’s first flexible and scalable development system used in next-generation car infotainment and telematics systems, including head-units, navigation, radios and driver assistance systems. The development platform is available as a fully equipped prototyping kit with a pre-defined microcontroller and demo applications.
“Altera strives to provide our customers with best-in-class system solutions based on the highest quality IP which can be easily integrated into our leading programmable logic technology,” said Robert Blake, vice president of automotive and consumer business unit at Altera Corporation. “Eureka’s SD controller IP was selected as a key element in our PARIS platform program because of its superior combination of quality and performance.”
"The SD memory and SDIO host controller IP core exemplifies our dedication in system connectivity technologies," said Simon Lau, president of Eureka Technology. "This core is built upon our experience in system peripheral bus, CPU interface and data connectivity in System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. We are very pleased that since its initial launch in 2004, this core meets all performance requirements of our customers and is silicon proven in many applications.”
The SD memory and SDIO controller IP core supports the latest version 2.0 specification published by SD Card Association. It also supports the MultiMedia CardTM(MMC) standard and SDMA data transfer, high capacity cards (SDHC) and high-speed data transfer mode. This controller core can be configured to support many different CPU interfaces, including the Avalon bus for the Altera NIOS® II embedded processor, AHB, APB, PCI, SH4, Wishbone, and a generic user interface.
With full compatibility with the SD Card standard, this IP core is interoperable with existing standard software drivers. Eureka provides a development platform to demonstrate the host controller core operation under Windows XP operating system. This ability completely eliminates the software development effort for the SD host system.
Like all Eureka IP cores, the SD memory and SDIO controller core can be implemented in any ASIC and FPGA technologies. The core is available immediately in Verilog, VHDL, and FPGA netlist formats.
