NXP Signs Corporate-wide Agreement to Embed Numetrics Tools in Product Planning Processes
CUPERTINO, Calif., & EINDHOVEN, Netherlands -- March 24, 2008 -- Numetrics Management Systems Inc, the leading provider of top-down project planning and schedule risk analysis tools to the semiconductor industry, today announced a 3-year, multi-million Euro agreement with NXP Semiconductors to license Numetrics’ NMX-ERP™ software suite and professional services. This agreement follows NXP’s highly successful year-long evaluation of Numetrics products and services.
“Numetrics tools give us an objective assessment of schedule accuracy and staffing levels on our active projects every quarter, together with an industry benchmark of our product development and planning performance,” said Rene Penning de Vries, NXP’s Chief Technology Officer. “We value our long partnership with Numetrics which has resulted in an extensive and mature design performance database which NXP applies extensively to project planning processes. This enables NXP to close the loop between actual and planned project development performance and provides us with very high confidence in achieving On-Time delivery, First-Time-Right, for our customers. Fact-based project planning enabled by Numetrics is now consistently embedded in our project management process and is applied to over 100 projects at any given time across all our sites.”
The multi-year licensing agreement covers six key products:
-
IC Project Planner(TM) -- uses Numetrics' project plan synthesis technology to estimate project staffing levels needed to meet target cycle time goals and enables "what-if" project plan simulation
-
IC Risk Analyzer(TM) -- quantifies schedule risk by benchmarking the underlying assumptions in the project plan, such as development team performance and throughput, against both industry norms and the particular development group's past performance
-
IC Design Complexity Calculation Engine(TM)(embedded in IC Project Planner) -- uses Numetrics' patented technology for calculating industry norm project development effort based on the target chip's technical characteristics
-
MultiProject Pipeliner(TM) -- enables managers to analyze staffing requirements for the entire IC development pipeline and determine periods in time when over-subscription will occur
-
IC Industry Database -- the centerpiece for benchmarking project plan assumptions, completed projects and projects in development, against industry norms for key metrics such as productivity, throughput, cycle time, schedule slip and spin count
-
NMX Insight (TM) -- improves productivity and cycle time by diagnosing bottlenecks in the development cycle.
