ARC and Toshiba Extend Collaboration to Develop Next Generation Multicore Configurable Processor Technology
SAN JOSE, Calif. and ST. ALBANS England -- March 31, 2008 - ARC International (LSE: ARK) today announced that it has extended the collaboration with Toshiba that begun in 2006 to develop configurable multi-processor technology. As part of the agreement, Toshiba has extended their license for the ARChitect™ Processor Configurator, which offers a comprehensive set of design tools and resources to produce highly optimized processor designs. Details of the new engagement and examples of real-world applications including Toshiba's configurable solutions will be provided in an executive presentation by Toshiba at the Multicore Expo Conference in Silicon Valley on April 2nd, 2008.
Takashi Yoshimori, Technology Executive for system-on-chip design of Toshiba's Semiconductor Company, said, "We are pleased with the ongoing collaboration and joint development work with ARC. This new agreement represents the next phase of the Toshiba and ARC relationship and underscores the importance that configurability plays in the development of Toshiba's SoCs for audio and video applications."
Bill Jackson, ARC's vice president of marketing, said, "Using configurable multicore technologies, Toshiba and ARC together are fueling the advancement of next-generation multimedia solutions. The deepening partnership with Toshiba is a testament to the effectiveness of our joint efforts, and ARC looks forward to extending the companies' leadership in consumer electronics."
About the ARChitect™ Processor Configurator
ARChitect is a revolutionary configuration tool that enables customers to unlock the power of ARC's patented configurable processors and multimedia subsystems. Using ARChitect's GUI-based development environment and simple drag-and-drop menu, chip designers select from over 20,000 pre-configured options and/or create optimized custom extensions. In minutes, ARChitect generates highly differentiated, proprietary configurable processors or subsystems that consume less power, are smaller, and can be manufactured at a lower cost than alternative solutions.
