Motion Computing Licenses Wi-LAN Wireless Technologies
OTTAWA, Canada – April 9, 2008 – Wi-LAN Inc., a leading technology innovation and licensing company, today announced that it has signed a six year licensing agreement with Motion Computing relating to Wi-LAN patents covering CDMA, Wi-Fi, WiMAX and HSPA technologies. The license provides for the payment of a running royalty and includes a payment in respect of past sales.
Motion Computing, headquartered in Austin, Texas, produces slate tablet PCs for mobile professionals in industries including healthcare, government, and field force automation. Motion is a mobile computing and wireless communications leader, combining world-class innovation and industry experience so individuals can use computing technology in new ways and places. The company’s enhanced line of tablet PCs and accessories are designed to increase productivity for on-the-go users while providing computing security, power and versatility. In a market analysis of the worldwide Tablet PC market released in December 2007, market research firm IDC ranked Motion Computing as the number 1 vendor in the slate tablet PC market.
