ClioSoft Introduces Enterprise Edition of the SOS Design Data Collaboration Platform
Rule-based data management for almost any design tools, simplified IP reuse & instant, live, virtual onsite support
FREMONT, Calif. -- April 11, 2008 -- ClioSoft, Inc., supplier of the leading design data management (DM) suite for hardware and software developers, today announced the Enterprise Edition of its widely-installed SOS Design Data Collaboration Platform. SOS Enterprise Edition is aimed at addressing the needs of large distributed enterprises by providing integrated design data management for a variety of EDA tools, easing management of hierarchically distributed designs, facilitating reuse of intellectual property and ensuring immediate, live, virtual onsite support when needed.
ClioSoft’s SOS design data collaboration platform for hardware and software design teams is in wide use in companies around the world. For both local and global development teams, SOS promotes collaboration and enables efficient management of design data and processes from concept to tape-out. SOS solves design DM needs by providing one platform that is seamlessly integrated with electronic design automation (EDA) flows from leading vendors.
Enterprise Edition extends the SOS platform to address the requirements of large, globally distributed enterprises by providing three major technology and service components:
-
Universal Data Management Adaptor (UDMA): A unique rule-based technology that allows the SOS administrator to quickly and easily define the relationship between design objects and the data files produced by the design tool. Design data generated by EDA tools such as schematic or layout editors are varied and complex. Using the specified UDMA rules, SOS automatically recognizes and packages co-managed file sets into user-recognizable composite design objects. This SOS technology allows enterprises to manage and version control design data from almost any design tool, at abstraction levels that designer use (libraries and cells) while eliminating the tedium of sorting through a complex set of tool-generated files.
-
Hierarchical Reference and Reuse Engine: Simplifies design data management of large projects by enabling these to be partitioned into smaller, independently managed sub-projects at local or remote sites. This engine also facilitates reuse of design intellectual property (IP) across the enterprise.
-
Enterprise Support: Minimizes downtime through instant, live, virtual onsite support delivered using WebEx remote support service. ClioSoft’s “Instant Support” routes the user to the technical support agent best qualified to help with the user’s specific issues and initiates a live web and phone support session. The agent can demonstrate functions to the user or view the user’s computer to quickly find and fix any issues.
“Until today, we have offered fine-tuned custom data management adaptors for popular IC flows such as Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor ICstudio and Silicon Canvas Laker. However, there are a number of design tools out there, and one of the most common inquiries we get is whether we have an integrated solution for a specific tool that the design team has just adopted,” said Srinath Anantharaman, founder and CEO of ClioSoft. “By writing a few simple rules, you can teach SOS how to recognize design data produced by practically any design tool. SOS Enterprise Edition “future proofs” your DM needs with the Universal DM Adaptor and also helps you leverage your past designs by facilitating reuse of your intellectual property and reducing time to market.”
Customer Comments
“ClioSoft's data management collaboration platform has helped us manage design data from digital, analog, and RF teams at multiple sites, improving design team productivity as we develop high-performance CMOS RF and mixed-signal semiconductors for the cellular industry," said Tuan Nguyen, vice president of engineering, Amalfi Semiconductor, Inc. "The universal data management adaptor looks very promising as a way to manage our Agilent ADS data for upcoming projects.”
"DALSA uses ClioSoft's SOS Design Collaboration Platform to help us manage shared design data among design teams world-wide, during the active design process. The product has definitely helped our productivity as we design, develop, and manufacture digital imaging products and solutions, and the level of support from ClioSoft has been excellent. We've appreciated the ease of use delivered by ClioSoft's tight integration with specific design tools in the past," said Martin Kiik, design engineer, DALSA Corporation. "The ability to manage data from any tool -- a feature of the new Enterprise Edition -- looks like something that will be of benefit to any design team."
"We've found that a DM infrastructure, properly defined and executed, increases the likelihood of first-pass silicon success by decreasing mistakes caused by the use of obsolete data," said Dave Brown, vice president, central engineering, Tektronix. "ClioSoft's new SOS platform should help us share data and greatly ease the task of moving personnel between projects. The Enterprise Edition's ability to leverage PDKs and IP across multiple projects is very appealing. We look forward to exploring the potential to bring more of our design data under SOS control via the Universal DM Adaptor technology."
Pricing and Availability
SOS Enterprise Edition is available now. US term pricing ranges from $1,695 to $3,495 per seat, depending on configuration. SOS Enterprise Edition supports Solaris™, HP-UX, Linux, and Windows® operating systems.
