Kilopass Non-Volatile Memory Technology Embedded in 15 Million Units
Update: Synopsys Expands DesignWare IP Portfolio with Acquisition of Kilopass Technology (Jan. 10, 2018)
XPM offers low-cost standard logic CMOS embedded non-volatile memory for SOC design securitySanta Clara, Calif. -- April 22, 2007 -- Kilopass Technology, Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), today announced that to date over 15 million units have been produced by customers embedding its extra-permanent memory (XPM) technology.
XPM technology’s most popular use is for security. This includes ID and encryption key storage for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), Digital Rights Management (DRM) and WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) applications. Other popular applications include trim and calibration, as well as code and parameter storage.
“We see continued rapid growth in high volume production as we enter our fourth year of working with customers, who are using XPM technology as part of their device architectures,” said
Bernie Aronson, CEO, Kilopass. “We expect this number of production units to continue to grow exponentially as 90nm and 65nm designs enter high volume production this year. Kilopass investment in certifying all of our IP products with our foundry partners has provided tremendous value and confidence to our customers as they ramp high volume production.”
Kilopass began shipping XPM technology in June, 2003, and was founded in November, 2001.
The company currently has more than 50 customers using XPM technology for one or multiple applications.
