Virage Logic's High-Efficiency DDR Memory Controller Selected by Server Virtualization Solutions Leader 3Leaf Systems
Silicon Proven, All Digital DDR2 Controller and PHY+DLL Solution Delivers Optimized Performance at Reduced Cost
FREMONT, Calif. -- May 06, 2008 -- Virage Logic Corporation, the semiconductor industry's trusted IP partner and pioneer in Silicon Aware IP(TM), today announced the selection of its Intelli(TM) Double Data Rate (DDR) Memory Controller interface solution by 3Leaf Systems, a provider of next-generation server virtualization solutions for enterprise data centers, to deliver a silicon proven, high-performance DDR memory controller IP solution.
By providing an all digital memory controller solution, and achieving maximum data throughput efficiency, Virage Logic's Intelli DDR solution allowed 3Leaf Systems to reach performance levels typically only achieved by mainframes. Virage Logic's ability to deliver 800Mbps with low latency and high-efficiency made the Intelli DDR solution a clear choice for the right combination of high-performance, low-power, and low-cost.
"The ability to achieve the maximum performance at the minimum clock frequency was a key factor for selecting Virage Logic's Intelli DDR solution," said Bob Quinn, chairman, founder, and chief technical officer of 3Leaf Systems. "Optimal memory performance enhances the scalability and flexibility delivered by our industry leading server virtualization infrastructure, which delivers mainframe class features for commodity x86 platforms while drastically reducing both capital and operating costs."
Virage Logic's Intelli DDR solution is an all digital implementation - including the PHY and DLL - that delivers smaller area, lower power, and significantly easier portability to any process node for any foundry.
"Virage Logic's highly efficient Intelli DDR memory controllers allow customers to competitively differentiate their products with an all digital, silicon proven solution that does not need to be proven again at different foundries or process nodes," said Raghavan Menon, senior director of the DDR memory controller group at Virage Logic. "As the semiconductor industry's trusted IP partner, Virage Logic has developed a versatile memory controller solution for reduced power at any given performance, from low-power mobile applications to high-performance networking applications."
About Virage Logic's Application Specific IP (ASIP) Solutions
Virage Logic's ASIP product portfolio is designed to meet the highest quality and performance standards for functional IP and contains application-specific functional IP targeted to a variety of market requirements for high performance, low power, low gate count and small die size. The ASIP products are commonly based on Virage Logic's proprietary and patented logic libraries, routing methodology, and cell architecture.
Virage Logic's Intelli(TM) DDR memory controller interface solution includes a memory controller and the related PHY and DLL, with advanced features, to deliver high-performance in a minimum die area and with low power dissipation. The solution is architected to enable optimal size while providing customers with the ability to achieve the maximum performance and minimal power targets with the added flexibility of advanced feature selection. The Intelli DDR solution is implemented at several SDR and DDR protocols, including MobileSDR and MobileDDR, as well as DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3 and at several foundries on a variety of processes nodes.
