Bluespec's High-Level Synthesis Toolset is Selected by Mercury Computer Systems for Creation of Next Generation Advanced Computing IP
WALTHAM, Mass -- June 4, 2008 -- Bluespec Inc., developers of the industry's only general-purpose, high-level synthesis solution, today announced that Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. has adopted Bluespec’s high-level synthesis toolset for creating its next-generation advanced computing IP for FPGAs.
“Mercury is committed to delivering its advanced computing solutions on the industry’s highest performing reprogrammable silicon,” said Leon Woo, vice president of engineering for Advanced Computing Solutions at Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. “We selected the Bluespec toolset because it enables much higher design productivity, significantly better IP quality, tremendous reuse, and excellent quality of results, regardless of the target device.”
“Mercury Computer Systems is renowned for its expertise in building high-performance image and signal processing platforms, which require a tight and harmonious integration of the processing, data movement and memory subsystems. Because Bluespec is general-purpose, designers can optimize across the entire system solution space and are not forced to treat each subsystem as distinctly separate,” said Charlie Hauck, chief executive officer of Bluespec, Inc. “And since Bluespec supports synthesis at high levels of abstraction, it lets users synthesize system models and verification testbenches to include them in FPGAs along with designs to unify and accelerate architecture, design, and verification.”

About Bluespec
Bluespec Inc. manufactures an industry standards-based Electronic Design Automation (EDA) toolset that significantly raises the level of abstraction for hardware design while retaining the ability to automatically synthesize high-quality RTL, without compromising speed, power or area. Elevating System-on-Chip (SoC) modeling, verification and implementation with atomic transactions, the only high-level abstraction for hardware concurrency, the general purpose toolset allows ASIC and FPGA teams to reduce development time, bugs and re-spins that contribute to product delays and escalating costs.
