Evatronix enhances its Ethernet MAC product line with MAC-1G PCS IP core
Update: Cadence Completes Acquisition of Evatronix IP Business (Jun 13, 2013)
Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) add-on to the successful MAC-1G controller provides new opportunities for an already wide range of possible implementations.
Gliwice & Bielsko-Biala, Poland, June 5th,2008 - Silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider, Evatronix SA, announced today the MAC-1G PCS – a Physical Coding Sublayer IP core brings the proven Evatronix Gigabit Ethernet MAC Controllers into the world of fiber-optic networks and assures a seamless integration with third-party optical transceivers through the Physical Medium Attachment (PMA) sublayer.
The MAC-1G PCS IP core is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3-2002 standard thus guaranteeing a hassle-free implementation into fiber-optic enabled SoCs. The Management Interface facilitates configuration and monitoring of the core itself, while 1000BASE-X Auto-Negotiation process simplifies information data exchange with a link partner. For FPGA implementations, 8B-10B Encoder/Decoder modules can be mapped to built-in memory blocks to facilitate efficient use of circuit resources.
The MAC-1G PCS is a major enhancement to the family of Evatronix Ethernet Media Access Controllers. These can be distinguished on the market by the efficiency of a sophisticated, descriptor-based DMA and the reduction of system latency through flexible FIFO buffering with multi packet store capability. Moreover, significant CPU time reduction can be achieved thanks to the built-in configurable interrupt aggregation.
“The MAC-1G PCS provides fiber-optic SoC developers with a complete Ethernet solution and makes our existing Gigabit Ethernet controllers perfectly suited for even more designs,” said Tomasz Kowalczyk, Product Line Manager at Evatronix. “The new value we’re bringing to our Ethernet controllers line significantly improves what we’ve already developed and been successful with.”
“The launch of MAC-1G PCS core proves our continuous effort to make our existing and silicon-proven IP core portfolio evolve according to market trends and the needs of our customers,” added Wojciech Sakowski, Evatronix President. “Together with Fast Ethernet solutions and the Embedded Ethernet Platform, Evatronix gives SoC engineers one of the widest choices for MAC IP products on the market.”
Availability and customization options
The MAC-1G PCS is available for licensing now. When used with our Gigabit Ethernet MACs – MAC-1G or MAC-1G-L, the component preserves all the functionality and configurability of both IP Cores.
A demo application showing functionality of the component in hardware environment is available upon request.
