Anchor Bay Offers New Low-Cost HDMI 1.3 Deep Color Video-Processing IC for Blu-ray Players and AV Receivers
New Chip Features Progressive Re-Processing Technology for "flicker free" viewing on High-Resolution Displays
Los Gatos California -- September 3, 2008 -- Today Anchor Bay announced the release of the ABT1030, a new video-processing IC designed for low cost format-conversion applications in STB, DVD, AVR, and Blu-ray player/recorders. In addition to featuring Video Reference Series™ (VRS™) Precision Video Scaling™ and Precision Deinterlacing™, the ABT1030 includes the patented Progressive Re-Processing™ (PReP™) technology. PReP is a breakthrough technology that improves the poor picture quality caused by other deinterlacers.
Anchor Bay's ABT1030 video-processing chip features the processing power of Anchor Bay's VRS™ technologies, including its Precision Video Scaling™ engine that preserves image detail to achieve outstanding picture quality for today's high-resolution video displays. The ABT1030 also features standard definition (SD) Precision Deinterlacing™, which provides any-cadence film mode detection and five-field motion-adaptive and edge-adaptive processing for an artifact-free viewing experience.
The ABT1030's PReP technology reverts the progressive video signal output from source equipment, such as DVD players, AV receivers, and set-top-boxes, to its original interlaced format, which is then converted to progressive video using Precision Deinterlacing™ technology. This process eliminates jaggies, feathering, and other degrading effects from other deinterlacers. Anchor Bay's unique PReP technology improves picture quality of 480p and 576p signals.
The ABT1030 fully supports HDMI 1.3 with Deep Color™ (36-bit inputs and outputs) and xvYCC colorimetry capabilities, featuring 12-bit input and output resolutions. Video signals from 480i up to full 1080P HDTV is completely supported as well when using the ABT1030's pass-through mode.
"The ABT1030 is an exciting price/performance breakthrough for the video-processing industry, offering full 1080P 36-bit video at a fraction of the cost of any competing IC" said C.H.Chee, VP of Technology Marketing at Anchor Bay. "With the addition of the ABT1030 to our lineup, OEMs have yet another affordable way of delivering our reference quality video processing in high-volume applications."
The ABT1030 IC samples and evaluation boards are available in September. More information about this product and Anchor Bay's suite of VRS technologies is available at www.anchorbaytech.com.
