Wipro-NewLogic Releases its IEEE 1394 Software Stack for Automotive Applications
Lustenau, Austria – October 20th, 2008 - Wipro-NewLogic, the leading provider of wired and wireless connectivity IPs, today announced the release of its IEEE 1394 Software Stack for Automotive Applications.
Wipro-NewLogic has a comprehensive IEEE 1394 Software IP portfolio to support multiple Automotive applications. It can be used by Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to develop IEEE 1394 based car navigation solutions, In-car and rear seat entertainment, driver assist and car safety solutions. These Software IPs can operate with leading IEEE 1394 Automotive chipsets as well as IEEE 1394 Link and PHY layer solutions developed by Wipro-NewLogic.
Wipro’s IEEE 1394 Software stack for Automotive applications includes modules for hardware drives like IEEE 1394 Driver and Serial Bus Manager. It also supports Power management features in form of IEEE 1394 Automotive Power Management stack. This optimizes the power in the system as per the Power modes supported in the underlying PHY chip. For in-car infotainment, it supports content protection through its DTCP stack implementation and Audio / Video transmission through a combination of software stacks like IEC 61883-1 FCP/CMP, AVC General Command Set, IEC 61883-6 and IEC 61883-8.
SBP2 Initiator stack enables car navigation support high speed transfer of Navigation Map Data information.
For car safety applications, IIDC Controller software stack enables connection to and control of IIDC cameras for camera based driver assists.
The IEEE 1394 Software stack is designed and developed for real-time embedded systems. Delivering Linux and WinCE version as IP core, it can be ported to Operating systems like VxWorks, Nucleus, ThreadX, multiple processors and multiple underlying hardware platforms. Its generic Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) enables support for easier application development.
“Wipro makes continuous investment in IEEE 1394 technology in terms of active participation in different specification developments, newer solution development, adapting existing cores to suit newer applications and maintaining the knowledge-base,” said Senthil Murugesan, CEO of Wipro-NewLogic. “Wipro’s IEEE 1394 family of IPs has more than 65 licensees worldwide over last 12 years and these IPs are now finding their way into newer areas such as Automotive and Digital Television applications. With our robust development methodology and mature solution, we are confident in meeting the demanding quality requirements of our automotive customers.”
Beside IEEE 1394 Automotive Software stack, Wipro-NewLogic’s IEEE 1394 IP Portfolio consists of Physical and Link layer solution for both IEEE 1394a and IEEE 1394b with support for OHCI (Open Host Controller Interface) Protocol and AV Link Protocol. Wipro-NewLogic also has generic drivers for 1394a and 1394b Link layers, Software stacks for AV/C General Command set and IEC 61883 series of specification and solution for SBP2 protocol. It also has Content Protection solution based on 5C DTCP protocol. For more information, please visit, http://www.newlogic.com/products/ieee1394.shtml.
