Fresco Logic Demonstrates Industry's First SuperSpeed USB Extensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI)
Demonstration showcases xHCI Data Transfer Speed between two of Fresco Logic's Hardware Development Platforms--Host and Device
October 21, 2008 -- Fresco Logic, a leading Silicon IP, IC Systems and Solutions Company, will demonstrate a SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.0) xHCI host solution on its hardware development platform in the USB 3.0 Promoter Group booth at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Taiwan. This demonstration marks the first public showing of a solution based upon the draft xHCI interface specification for SuperSpeed USB."The USB 3.0 Promoter Group is pleased to see the progress Fresco Logic has made by showing a working version of the SuperSpeed USB xHCI host at the Intel Developers Forum," said Jeff Ravencraft USB 3.0 Promoter Group Chairman. "The Fresco Logic demonstration shows an xHCI based host controller solution for SuperSpeed USB working on an actual hardware platform including interoperability with a prototype SuperSpeed USB software stack."
Fresco Logic constructed a SuperSpeed USB host hardware development platform. The demonstration shows interoperability between an xHCI host and a USB 3.0 device based on Fresco's SuperSpeed USB Device hardware development platform.
"Our SuperSpeed USB host with xHCI support is now approaching complete operational functionality based upon the current draft xHCI specification. As the SuperSpeed USB specification nears completion, we are demonstrating the necessary operations and interoperability to give the industry confidence that this standard is implementable and will stand the market test with the new features available in SuperSpeed USB," said Jing-Fan Zhang, President and CEO of Fresco Logic. "We have continued to work closely with our partners and the USB ecosystem to enable the successful deployment of the SuperSpeed USB standard into the design community."
