Kilopass Technology Announces 30% Price Reduction In Embedded Non-Volatile Memory for Integrated Circuit (IC) Design
Update: Synopsys Expands DesignWare IP Portfolio with Acquisition of Kilopass Technology (Jan. 10, 2018)
SnapXPM Automates Most Popular Configurations for Broad Base Adoption of Security Key, Configuration, and Software In Next Generation Semiconductor Products
Santa Clara, CA -- November 10, 2008 -- Kilopass Technology Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), today announced the availability of its new product line, SnapXPM. Based on five years of product success, SnapXPM comprises a series of pre-configured non-volatile memories across more than 10 semiconductor process technologies. The off-the-shelf products are available now and are priced at 25% to 30% lower than the existing XPM products.
Since its inception in 2001, Kilopass has seen the semiconductor industry steadily learn and embrace embedded non-volatile memory on-chip. During this period, customers often have very specialized requirements for putting precisely the configuration needed, both in terms of memory size as well as options, with no extra waste in order to save silicon area. However, as adoptions accelerate, it’s time for Kilopass to take advantage of application knowledge, and produce the product ahead of time.
“We are excited to bring a ready-to-use, lower cost XPM product out to the market,” said Kilopass President and CEO, Charlie Cheng. “Now we will be able to broaden our reach, and go into start-up companies as well as major accounts to win every HDMI, every set-top-box, every WiMax, etc. sockets.”
While 80% of configurations are repeat use in various applications, SnapXPM includes 40 XPM modules that are most commonly used in customers’ designs and is pre-packaged to meet customers’ immediate requirements. SnapXPM is available from 0.18um to 65nm at foundries including TSMC, Chartered, and Dongbu. Its configuration options include density, read voltage, program/read bus width, and charge pump. Because manual implementations of modules are eliminated, we are able to offer SnapXPM at a discount of 25-30%.
“Module customization is costly and time-consuming,” said Pearl Cheng, VP of Engineering and Operations at Kilopass. “To eliminate manual work in customizing XPM modules, we pre-configure popular options and convert the process to fully automate operations. Design automation of these frequently used configurations enables us to offer a competitive solution to our customers. ”
Pricing & availability
SnapXPM is now available and is priced at 25-30% less from regular XPM products.
