Forty CAST IP Cores Validated for Mentor Graphic's Precision FPGA Synthesis Tool
Woodcliff Lake, NJ, November 12, 2008 — Silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider CAST, Inc. is working with Mentor Graphics® to ensure that users of the company’s FPGA synthesis design flow have a superior experience using CAST’s IP cores. Forty CASTcores have so far successfully undergone this evaluation and testing process, yielding excellent results using Mentor Graphics’ Precision® Synthesis FPGA tool.
“CAST is a long-time Mentor Graphics OpenDoor partner and a leader in vendor-independent IP cores,” said Daniel Platzker, Mentor Graphics FPGA synthesis product line director. “After working with CAST on these cores, we’re happy to recommend them to our mutual customers for use with Precision Synthesis as part of our comprehensive, vendor-independent FPGA design flow.”
“We’ve provided CAST IP cores to FPGA designers for many years, and are pleased to now partner with Mentor Graphics and provide this extra degree of validation to our FPGA customers seeking to use Precision Synthesis,” said Hal Barbour, president of CAST.
The validated cores include 8051- and 68000-compatble processors; JPEG and JPEG 2000 image encoders/decoders; NAND Flash and SD Card memory controllers; PCI and PCI Express interfaces; USB interfaces; Ethernet MAC interfaces; CAN and LIN network controllers; a Smart Card Reader and Infrared Remote device controllers; I2S and SPDIF audio interfaces; synchronous UARTs; and more.
All the cores are available today, through CAST. See www.cast-inc.com for more information on the cores. See www.mentor.com/products/fpga_pld/ for more information on the Mentor Graphics integrated FPGA design flow and Precision Synthesis tool.
