Wipro-NewLogic delivers WLAN and Bluetooth RF IPs in TSMC 90nm
Lustenau, Austria – November 17, 2008 - Wipro-NewLogic, the number one provider of Bluetooth and Wireless LAN IPs, today announced that its Bluetooth 2.1+Enhanced Data Rate RF IP (BOOSTTM RF) and IEEE 802.11a/b/g WLAN RF IP (WiLDTM90 RF) are silicon proven in TSMC 90nm. Wipro-NewLogic has been designing RF IP for more than eight years and has thus built up a significant experience in providing RF IP ready for integration into customer SoC(System on Chip).
Bluetooth and Wireless LAN interfaces have become standard in many communication and consumer devices such as cell phones, PDAs, Personal Navigation Devices, Portable Media Players, gaming chipsets, wireless sensors, Ultra Mobile PCs and Mobile Internet Devices. Availability of CMOS based RF IPs in high end technology enables integration of the complete wireless interface into the communication SoC. This ensures much lower product and Bill Of Material cost, smaller devices with higher battery life.
“Providing leading edge RF IP enabling newer types of SoC integration has always been our differentiator”, says Senthil Murugesan, CEO of Wipro-NewLogic. “Our Bluetooth and Wireless LAN RF IPs are the catalysts of highly integrated and competitive wireless solutions in consumer electronics, gaming and wireless sensors markets. We are currently working with our customers to develop highly integrated wireless interface based SoCs with our Wireless IPs.”
Wipro-NewLogics’s BOOST RF contains all the functions for a complete Bluetooth 2.1+EDR radio and modem. It is provided with integrated digital modem and RF controller, Analog to Digital Converter and Digital to Analog Converter, TX power amplifier, RX/TX switch, hence reducing the number of external components. When combined with the BOOSTTM Core Bluetooth 2.1+EDR baseband, it provides a comprehensive and highly flexible solution for Bluetooth centric application chips such as headset, and for integration into wireless connectivity combos and application processors.
WiLD90 RF is the 2nd generation of 802.11a/b/g radio IP that Wipro-NewLogic is offering. It features all the functions for a dual-band, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio. The number of external components is greatly reduced by integrating the power amplifiers as well as the RX/TX switch. Combined with the Wi-Fi® certified WiLD MAC and Modem, it provides a complete wireless LAN solution for integration into a SoC. The WiLD90 RF is designed with an upgrade path to an 802.11n radio in mind. For example, it already offers improved receive and transmit performance that is aligned with the specification of the IEEE802.11n standard.
Wipro-NewLogic is the only one stop shop provider of Bluetooth, Wireless LAN, combos and next generation Bluetooth High Speed for integration into SoC. The company is complementing its IP offering with a broad set of design services for the digital and analog IP integration and productization.
