VeriSilicon Expands SoC Platform with Vivantes Silicon Proven Graphics Solutions
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & SUNNYVALE, Calif.-- January 7, 2009 --Vivante Corporation, the technology leader in embedded Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) IP cores, and VeriSilicon Holdings Co., Ltd. (VeriSilicon), a world-class ASIC design foundry and custom SoC solutions provider, today announced the addition of scalable 2D and 3D graphics solutions from Vivante to VeriSilicon's expanding, system level star IP portfolio. The agreement gives VeriSilicon access to Vivante’s silicon proven OpenGL ES 2.0 / 1.1 and OpenVG 1.1 GPUs for customer SoC designs targeting mobile and home entertainment consumer applications where visual interaction differentiates end products. Vivante’s silicon proven GPU technology is distinguished from other available IP cores by delivering the highest performance per square millimeter of silicon area, OpenGL ES 2.0 quality proven in silicon and a rich feature set in a variety of packages for varied market requirements.
“By adding Vivante GPU IP, VeriSilicon expands its SoC platform capability to service multimedia applications such as Blu-ray DVD Players, advanced Set-top Boxes, high definition DTV devices, and automobile infotainment devices with audio, video and image processing requirements,” said Bill Wang, Corporate Vice President of Business Development of VeriSilicon. "VeriSilicon strives to be a world class design foundry with a full range of SoC capabilities to serve its worldwide customer base. Our advanced, flexible SoC platforms include industry leading ZSP family of DSP cores (acquired from LSI Logic), standard processor cores like ARM, PowerPC, low power analog IP and application software.”
“Increasing demand for sophisticated on-screen displays, graphical user interfaces and Internet gaming applications drives ever-more capable GPUs into a wide range of SoCs, where silicon area and performance delivered per milliwatt are the most important factors in selecting a GPU. Vivante is fueling this growth by providing a wide range of silicon proven GPU cores with the best performance per square millimeter of silicon area for each product category. This dramatic silicon area savings enables SoC vendors to differentiate a wide range of platforms with leading edge graphics performance,” said David Jarmon, Vice President of Business Development and Sales of Vivante Corporation. “We are excited about the partnership with VeriSilicon and we both see excellent synergies in providing full platform solutions which will enable our customers to add OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics capability with minimum incremental silicon cost.”
