Samsung Licenses Wi-LAN Wireless Technology
OTTAWA, Canada – January 15, 2009 – Wi-LAN Inc. (“Wi-LAN” or the “Company”) (TSX:WIN), a leading technology innovation and licensing company, today announced that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has signed a license agreement related to certain patents of Wi‑LAN in the area of wireless technology. The multi-year agreement covers all wireless products sold by Samsung. The specific terms of the agreement are confidential.
“Signing this license agreement with Samsung, a dominant global vendor of wireless handsets, is another very important milestone for our licensing program,” said Jim Skippen, CEO. “With Nokia, RIM and now Samsung licensed to technologies in our portfolio and negotiations with additional companies ongoing, our determined efforts to license handset vendors are producing very positive results for Wi-LAN.”
