Arasan Chip Systems Aligns with SDA on SDXC
Next Generation SD IP to support SDXC Specification
Extends Mobile Eco-System
San Jose, California – January 23, 2009 – Arasan Chip Systems, Inc., “Arasan” a leader in Intellectual Property (IP) solutions – IP cores, Verification IP (VIP), Software Drivers and Stacks and Hardware Solutions, announced that Arasan Chip Systems’ next generation SD IP cores will support the newly proposed SDXC specification recently announced by the SDA during CES. This alignment, supporting the newly announced specification, displays Arasan’s commitment to the market and extends their strategic mobile initiative.
In a continuing effort to develop Arasan’s mobile eco-system, Arasan will be the first IP provider to adopt the SDXC specification from SDA, supporting higher density and faster SD cards. Arasan is in development on the new specification and will be ready to provide a fully compliant solution to the market upon ratification.
The demand for high-capacity memory cards capable of supporting high-resolution video and picture is rapidly growing. By providing increased performance and capacity, SDXC extends the SD specification for years to come. The specification defines read/write performances up to 300 MBps and densities up to 2TB. This will allow users to turn their portable devices and mobile phones into entertainment and multimedia centers.
“The SDXC specification clearly addresses the near-term demand and future requirements in the portable and consumer market,” said Kevin Yee, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Arasan. “Being a long time member of the SDA, we have had early access to the preliminary specifications, allowing us…first to know, first to develop and first to market.”
Arasan’s current SD IP solutions are compliant to SD 2.1 and will be updated to support SDXC. They are uniquely optimized for low power, portable applications – including digital still cameras, camcorders, portable media players and mobile handsets. Arasan will be providing an easy migration from those using SD 2.0 to the new SDXC standards. Arasan leads the industry in having the “Total IP Solution” with the latest memory solutions on the market.
