Discretix CryptoCell Security Platform for 4G LTE Chipsets
Embedded Security Solution Will Provide World-Class Protection for Content, Transactions, Downloads and More on LG’s LTE chipset
2009 MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS / BARCELONA, SPAIN — February 17, 2009 – Discretix, the leading global provider of embedded mobile security solutions, today announced that its CryptoCell® security technology has been chosen to provide integrated protection for LG Electronics’ new LTE (Long Term Evolution) chipsets. As the exclusive security technology for LG LTE processors, Discretix will ensure a trusted environment for the coming era of high-definition video and streaming, ultra-high speed downloads and much more.
Unveiled late last year, LG’s LTE chipsets are expected to help facilitate a new wave of 4G devices. LG mobile handsets using LTE technology will support download speeds of 100 Mbps and upload speeds of 50 Mbps theoretically —up to six times faster than HSDPA (High Speed Download Packet Access) and eight times faster than HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access).
Discretix’ CryptoCell will provide a robust and far-reaching solution for LG Electronics’ LTE chipsets. As the world’s most widely deployed embedded security technology for mobile devices, CryptoCell offers an outstanding level of security while overcoming the challenges of performance, power consumption and silicon footprints. The flexible technology is designed to support the growth of DRM, device management, secure protocols and commerce, and can be deployed across a wide range of products and operating systems to meet changing market requirements for security.
CryptoCell’s robust cryptographic core, offering countermeasures and strong protection of device assets, is also ideally suited to open-source operating systems since such systems are often exposed to multiple threats.
“Wireless mobile devices are obviously becoming a personal digital companion for watching movies, listening to music, browsing the Internet, connecting with friends and much more,” said Edo Ganot, EVP Sales and Business Development for Discretix. “The demands that are driving LTE development—higher bandwidth, faster downloads and uploads, and more content choices—also drive the need for a suitably advanced security environment. CryptoCell is one of the very few platforms that can support such rigorous specifications.”
Discretix is showcasing its embedded security products, including CryptoCell, at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Hall 4, Level 7, Hospitality Suites 20 and 22 in the Montjuïc Conference Centre. To learn more about Discretix CryptoCell technology, log on to www.discretix.com/CryptoCell.
