Arasan Chip Systems announces the World's First 75-in-1 Multi-Card Controller IP
Seamless data sharing for leading edge consumer electronics
San Jose, California – March 26, 2009 – Arasan Chip Systems, Inc. (“Arasan”), a leader in Intellectual Property (IP) solutions – IP cores, Verification IP (VIP), Software Drivers and Stacks and Hardware Solutions, today announced the World’s First 75-in-1 Multi-Card Controller IP, that enables the next generation of consumer electronics. The solution will natively support the widest range of memory card formats available in the market. With a family of multi-card IP cores, Arasan enables consumers to enjoy a simple, pain-free method to share and access data over a wide range of memory technologies.
Building upon its leadership position in Secure Digital (SD/SDIO) solutions, Arasan has introduced yet another first – the 75-in-1 Multi-Card Controller. The family of controller IPs natively supports popular memory and I/O formats including SD, eSD, SDIO, MMC, eMMC, MS, MS Pro, CF and xD and their derivatives. The family supports a range of technology combinations allowing designers to select the best option for their design. Due to the explosive growth in portable multi-media products, media storage solutions are fragmented with several dominant standards. Compounding the problem of multiple standards is the consumer’s desire to seamlessly share media between devices. With a multi-card reader solution, designers are able to build a flexible system that can address end user’s desires to use multiple card formats with legacy or newer high-capacity memory solutions. Providing native support for a wide range of memory card formats alleviates the frustration that end-users experience in sharing media while allowing system designers to support a wide range of memory formats.
“The rise in user generated content and sharing as part of the multimedia experience has transformed the way consumers interact and consume media”, said Kevin Yee, Vice President of Marketing at Arasan. “Arasan’s family of Multi-Card Controller IPs enables system designers to build a truly universal memory format platform that gives users and consumer product developers the flexibility of capturing and sharing data in a seamless manner”.
