Evatronix IP successfully implemented by HAPA AG to support their printer controllers
Update: Cadence Completes Acquisition of Evatronix IP Business (Jun 13, 2013)
Bielsko-Biala/Poland and Volketswil/Switzerland -- July 20th, 2009 -- The silicon Intellectual Property (IP) provider, Evatronix SA, announced today its C68000 IP core has been successfully implemented in the HAPA 100 Controller series for printers of the Swiss company HAPA AG.
The HAPA 100 Controller series supports 3- and 5-phase stepper motors in their printers since 15 years. The printers are used in the pharmaceutical industry to print by flexographic or drop on demand technology aluminum foil, blisters and cartons in line just before packaging.
The C68000, a pin replacement for the 68000 microprocessor from Motorola, enabled HAPA to continue support for the HAPA 100 Controller, but also became a solid basis for future development of other products.
“Facing the situation when the original chip is no longer available and our customers still enjoy our printers and need support for them, we needed a manufacturer independent solution,” said Mathias Theiler, R&D Director at HAPA AG. “When used as a chip replacement, Evatronix IP fitted perfectly into our system and ran right from the first go with each piece of the printer software. On the other hand, the IP quality and performance enabled us to develop new solutions upon the solid foundation of the HAPA 100 Controller.”
The C68000 is a member of the Evatronix obsolete parts replacement IP family, which consists of a variety of microprocessors and microcontrollers based on such architectures as: Z80 from Zilog, 6502 from MOS Technology, and 80c186 from Intel. The CPUs are accompanied by DSPs based on 32025(TX) concept from Texas Instruments and math coprocessors derived from Intel's 80187 and 387 chips.
“Our solutions, just as HAPA printers, are built to last. Moreover, an IP core gives the licensee total independence and control over costs,” said Sebastian Kaprowski, Obsolete Parts Replacement Line Manager at Evatronix. “Our IPs for replacement of original chips are great proofs of our design services professionalism, as most of them were developed for a customer and then productized.”
