MediaTek Deploys CoWare Solutions to Improve Product Development Cycle
Design Automation Conference, San Francisco, California/USA -- July 27, 2009 -- CoWare®, Inc., the leading supplier of Electronic System Virtualization™ (ESV) software and services, and MediaTek, a leading fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital media solutions, announced today that they have entered a multi-year, strategic relationship to deploy CoWare ESV solutions in MediaTek. The adoption allows MediaTek to expand their competitive market position through better trade-off between chip cost and architecture and as well as achieving better time to market.
Over the past year MediaTek has successfully worked with CoWare during the initial deployment of ESV to MediaTek’s design teams in multiple sites. During this time frame, design teams were able to explore performance of their software on different target architectures while varying architecture parameters such as cache sizes, internal and external memory size or specifications. Going forward the relationship is expanded to the definition of next generation ESV solutions serving the future critical needs of MediaTek and its customers.
“The agreement with MediaTek demonstrates that ESV technologies are meeting the industry’s needs in a cost-driven economy,” stated Dr. Johannes Stahl, vice president marketing and business development, CoWare. “Extracting the maximum performance for architectures built from off-the-shelf and customer IP components is critical to optimizing chip cost. Solving the software integration problem using ESV accelerates project schedule and reduces the time and effort compared to existing methods. We are honored to work with MediaTek to advance the ESV benefits even further.”
CoWare Electronic System Virtualization solutions allow the quick porting of complex wireless and multimedia software stacks, including detailed performance analysis of critical applications, to optimized architectures. In addition, design teams can perform chip optimization under given performance specifications that require an exploration of the huge design space of the variety of chip architectures for the critical interconnect and memory subsystems. CoWare’s ESV solution is based on its common, standards-based infrastructure, facilitating different model accuracy and simulation speed combinations that suit all critical design task requirements.
