Cypress Provides Solutions IP for New PSoC 3 Devices and Revolutionary PSoC Creator IDE
Free Example Projects at www.cypress.com Allow Embedded Developers to Implement Designs More Quickly with Easily-Replicated, Robust IP Elements
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- October 26, 2009 – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced the availability of over 30 intellectual property (IP) elements for its new PSoC® 3 programmable system-on-chip architectures. The embedded design resources include example projects, application notes and solution overviews, all of which enable engineers to quickly implement designs using the unique new PSoC Creator™ integrated development environment (IDE). The solution IP Elements are available for free at www.cypress.com/go/psoc3.
The new solution IP Elements help engineers to quickly design with features of the PSoC 3 architecture such as the direct memory access (DMA), analog peripherals, and communication interfaces. These new elements also provide design examples for using PSoC 3 power management, LCD segment display, CapSense® buttons and sliders and much more. The new PSoC 3 architecture extends the world’s only programmable analog and digital design platform, and the IP Elements assist embedded designers to quickly take advantage of the integration and flexibility of the new platform.
“The new PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 architectures truly enable a new design paradigm where engineers can intuitively layout a design and let the PSoC Creator tool translate it to silicon,” said Matt Branda, product marketing director for PSoC products at Cypress. “The new solution IP Elements on Cypress.com will equip developers with concrete design examples that can be easily emulated to maximize the capabilities of this powerful design platform in their projects.”
About Cypress’s Solutions Library
The Cypress Solutions Library website is a free resource of user-generated IP that can be easily replicated for quick, effective design with Cypress’s flexible, programmable PSoC architecture, as well as for designs using Cypress’s USB and proprietary wireless technologies. The website’s IP Elements provide complete solutions for specific functions, including capacitive sensing, I2C and motor control. Applications within the library include consumer electronics, automotive, white goods and others. IP Elements come in various types: technical documents, software and/or firmware, user module components, and complete designs that include documentation, software/firmware, schematics and layout files. The IP Elements help designers speed projects through to completion. The library can be accessed from the “Solutions” tab on the Cypress website or directly at www.cypress.com/go/solutions.
About PSoC 3 and PSoC 5
The new PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 architectures include high-precision programmable analog capability (up to 20-bit resolution for an Analog to Digital Converter) and expanded programmable digital resources integrated with powerful, industry-standard MCU cores and ample memory and communications peripherals. The PSoC 3 devices are based on a new, high-performance 8-bit 8051 processor, while the PSoC 5 devices include a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex™-M3 processor. The new products provide designers with a seamless, programmable design platform, enabling easy migration from 8 to 32 bits. The robust features of these new solutions dramatically expand the applications and markets that PSoC can address, including automotive, portable medical, industrial and many more.
