DapTechnology's FireLink 1394b LLC IP Core Enhances PixeLINK's Firewire Vision
NIJMEGEN, The Netherlands -- December 7, 2009 -- DapTechnology, a leading world supplier of advanced IEEE 1394 technology solutions to the aerospace, defense, industrial, automotive and consumer electronics markets, announced today that PixeLINK of Ottawa, Ontario has selected and is currently integrating the DapTechnology FireLink 1394b Link Layer Controller IP Core as a key component of the company’s Megapixel™ camera product line. FireLink, implemented in industry-standard VHDL code, is available for Xilinx and Altera FPGA devices. The product is targeted at applications requiring up to 800 Mbits/Sec of bandwidth and embedded designs requiring a general purpose IEEE 1394b Link Layer Controller.
FireLink provides facilities for transmitting and receiving IEEE 1394 packets, including asynchronous, isochronous, and PHY packets at speeds of up to 800Mb/s. DapTechnology markets both a Basic and Extended version of FireLink. The FireLink Basic version is optimized for small core sizes while the FireLink Extended version, which leverages on OHCI-compatible DMA transfer technology, is optimized for high throughput applications.
“A readily-available & flexible IP core accelerates product development and time to market cycles,” says Jan de Vries, CEO of DapTechnology. Mr. de Vries adds, “FireLink IP has been an integral part of our own field-proven analyzer products for several years and we are proud to be able to share it with customers.”
