CoWare Releases Renesas' SH-4A Core Model and Reference Virtual Platform for Automotive, Consumer and Wireless Designs
SAN JOSE, Calif. - February 16, 2010 - CoWare, Inc., the leading supplier of Electronic System Virtualization software and services, today announced the availability of the high-speed model for Renesas Technology's (Renesas) SH-4A core model. The model has been developed in tight collaboration between CoWare and Renesas, ensuring the highest level of quality and verification to Renesas' test suite. The model is already in use at Renesas for the creation of high-speed virtual platforms targeted at Renesas customers in the automotive, consumer and wireless markets.
The availability of the model and virtual platforms enables Renesas to provide their OEM and systems customers with an electronic system virtualization design methodology and set of productivity-oriented tools. It fosters design collaboration and improves design productivity resulting in systems being right first time. Renesas selected CoWare's solution because:
- It provides a collaborative infrastructure between hardware, software and system-level developers at Renesas and at their OEM/System customers.
- It is mature, standards-based and provides a tool-based solution that enables semiconductor and OEM/Systems companies to scale their virtual platform independently.
- It expands Renesas' go-to-market capabilities, resulting in reduced deployment cost and faster time to market for Renesas and their customers.
"We are excited about the availability of the SH-4A core model. It is a key step in our relationship with CoWare. We are looking forward to expanding CoWare solutions to a wider range of Renesas solutions," said Atsushi Hasegawa, Deputy Executive General Manager, Design and Development Unit at Renesas. "Enabling collaboration, design efficiency and reducing development costs by ensuring that our customers can design their system right the first time demonstrates Renesas' commitment to leadership and innovation in our target markets."
"Aisin-AW is eager to access the joint solution from CoWare and Renesas for the design of next generation car navigation systems," said Wataru Ito, Assistant General Manager, Hardware Development Department, Navigation Business Division at Aisin-AW. "Access to Renesas' SH-Navi virtual platform enables us to analyze complex software in a non-intrusive and more productive environment. In addition, developing and testing our systems earlier will result in better products faster and with higher system quality for our car OEM customers."
"As a market leader, Renesas strives to provide their customers with innovative and powerful technologies. We are pleased to support them in this objective through our partnership to deliver electronic system virtualization methodologies and tools to Renesas and their customers," commented Marc Serughetti, vice president of marketing, CoWare. "Our technologies are designed to provide Renesas with the infrastructure they need to be autonomous in preparing customer-specific virtual platforms for their system-on-chip, ASSP or microcontroller solutions. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Renesas and helping their customers design their system right first time."
Availability
The Renesas SH-4A core model is available now from CoWare for use in CoWare Platform Architect and CoWare Virtual Platform, release 2010.1.
