Cosmic Circuits targets mixed-signal IP cores for SOC designs in China
Update: Cadence Completes Acquisition of Cosmic Circuits (May 23, 2013)
Partners with S2C Inc. to bring its silicon-proven IP cores to semiconductor companies in China developing system-on-chips for consumer applications
Bengaluru, Karnataka, May 21, 2010 -- Cosmic Circuits, a leading provider of differentiated Analog and Mixed-Signal IP cores, today announced its partnership with S2C Inc. to bring its strong portfolio of silicon-proven mixed-signal IP cores to system-on-chip companies in China.
Cosmic Circuits offers a broad portfolio of differentiated Analog IP cores in nanometer technology nodes covering Data-Converters, Analog-Front-End platforms for Wireless and Audio, Power-Management, Clocking and MIPI Interfaces. Silicon-proven in advanced process technologies including 65nm and 40nm nodes, the cores have been designed keeping in mind the stringent requirements driven by the portable consumer market. Fabless SC companies in China that are innovating to bring SOCs for consumer applications are expected to benefit from the availability of complex mixed-signal IP cores and sub-systems that enable chip performance targets, minimize system bill-of-material cost, and improve battery efficiency.
Cosmic Circuits sees a market in China for its portfolio that includes low-power A/D converters for touch-screen sensing, compact and low-power A/D and D/A converters for wireless communication, power-regulators for BOM-cost and space minimization, low-power high-quality audio A/D and D/A, audio speaker drivers and microphone amplifiers, wireless Analog-Front-Ends for portable applications, and its low-power MIPI® interfaces for mobile applications. Silicon-proven cores in 65nm & 40nm, combined with offerings on leading foundry nodes, enables SOC developers to shorten the time-to-market even while achieving product differentiation and cost reduction.
"China is a growing market where many SOC innovations are happening today. The high-volume market requires feature-rich products at competitive price points", said Ganapathy Subramaniam, CEO of Cosmic Circuits. "Mixed-signal IP integration is important to achieve this, and that's where we fit in. We have seen our customers in China benefiting from the differentiation of our cores to build feature rich products, even as their time-to-market goals are achieved with certainty, making use of our silicon-proven cores and expertise".
On the collaboration with S2C, he added that "We are delighted to partner with S2C Inc. With their knowledge of customer needs, our strong portfolio and a customer-centric approach, we are confident of effectively growing our customer-base in China".
"As SoC market becomes increasingly competitive in China, well-designed mixed-signal circuits are probably the most effective means to differentiate and to increase value for a SoC product", said Mon-Ren Chene, Chairman & CTO of S2C. "Partnering with Cosmic Circuits to provide first-class mixed-signal and analog IP is significant to S2C's continuing mission to provide design solutions that enable our customers to build the right SoC the first time."
Cosmic Circuits constantly endeavors to bring differentiated and silicon-proven Analog and Mixed-Signal IP cores to the design-community for integration on system-on-Chips. A majority of the nanometer cores available from Cosmic Circuits are suited for portable and fixed consumer, wireless, and convergence applications, among others.
