Magillem and Docea Power sign a partnership agreement: for a "power aware" platform description based on IEEE1685
June 3, 2010 -- Paris, France - Magillem SA, the leading provider of solutions designed to reduce the global cost of complex designs and Docea Power, the Electronic System Level (ESL) company that delivers software for early power and thermal analysis, today announced they are joining their forces to work on a power aware description using IEEE 1685IP-XACT.
Our customers need to exchange power related data and information in their platforms description and documentation. Standards are emerging like UPF, CPF for tools, but an alignment is needed on the IP documentation side. Magillem with its IP platform assembly and DOCEA Power will provide a solution to exchange power related information using the open IEEE 1685 IP-XACT format. The result of this collaboration on the description format will be donated and proposed to the standardization body.
“We are excited to provide a complete power aware platform solution, driven by our customers, enabling the access to a new dimension for verification coverage and Platform Early Assessment. Partnering with a renown expert like Docea Power will put a stamp of quality on the specification we are working on.“ Says Cyril Spasevski President and CTO at MAGILLEM
“This partnership is a great opportunity to deliver the first integrated solution for managing power data through a well-known standard and secure specifications for complex system design development. The collaboration with Magillem; the leading provider of IEEE 1685 (IPXACT), will bring to our respective customers real productivity gains and the best in class solution." Says Ghislain Kaiser, CEO of Docea Power

About IEEE 1685 (IP-XACT)
IP-XACT is an undisputed worldwide XML format that defines and describes electronic components and their designs. IP-XACT was created by the SPIRIT Consortium, now part of Accellera, as a standard to enable automated configuration and integration through tools. 120 industrial companies and organizations. The goals of the standard are: to ensure delivery of compatible component descriptions from multiple component vendors, to enable exchanging complex component libraries between electronic design automation (EDA) tools for SoC design (design environments), to describe configurable components using metadata, andto enable the provision of EDA vendor-neutral scripts for component creation and configuration (generators, configurators).
