Chips&Media adds VP8 on its new BODA9 / CODA9
Chips&Media announces upcoming release of VP8 capable video cores
June 8, 2010- Chips&Media, Inc., a leader of silicon Intellectual Property (IP), today announces that it will include VP8 in its the latest video codec IP family, BODA9™/CODA9™, high performance 1080p 60fps HD video decoder IP cores with multi-format capabilities.
By providing support for VP8, future Chips&Media’s video codec IP cores will be capable of decoding HTML5-based videos from Google, Firefox, and Opera browsers.
The BODA9™ offers full hardware acceleration for an extensive range of video standards from broadcast and storage, such as H.264, MPEG-2, VC-1, RealVideo, AVS, MPEG-4 and DivX(Xvid), to web-connected, such as Sorenson spark, H.263 and VP8. The CODA9™ provides not only multi-format decoding but also H.264, MPEG-4, and H.263 encoding capabilities, which is able to simultaneously encode and decode HD videos and targeted for fast growing video conferencing market.
