DapTechnology's 1394b FireLink Extended IP boosts download performance on Ampex MiniR700 Solid State Data Recorder
Nijmegen, The Netherlands, August 23, 2010 -- DapTechnology, a leading world supplier of advanced IEEE 1394 technology solutions to the aerospace, defense, industrial, automotive and consumer electronics markets, announced today that Ampex Data Systems Corporation of Redwood City, California has deployed the DapTechnology FireLink Extended1394b Link Layer Controller IP Core within its MiniR® Solid State Data Recorder line. FireLink Extended, implemented in industry-standard VHDL code, is available for Xilinx and Altera FPGA devices. The product is currently targeted at applications requiring up to 3.2 Gigabits/sec bandwidth and embedded designs requiring a general purpose, high throughput DMA-architected IEEE 1394b Link Layer Controller.
FireLink Extended provides facilities for transmitting and receiving IEEE 1394 packets, including asynchronous, isochronous, and PHY packets at speeds of up to 3.2 Gigabits/sec. DapTechnology markets both an Extended and a Basic version of FireLink Link Layer IP core, and soon will release FireGate, a next generation 1394b Physical Layer IP core operating at up to 3.2 Gigabits/sec. The FireLink Basic version is optimized for small core sizes while the FireLink Extended version, which leverages on OHCI-compatible DMA transfer technology, is optimized for high throughput applications.
FireLink Extended and FireLink Evaluation Kits are currently shipping. Additional information on FireLink/FireGate IP products and DapTechnology may be obtained by visiting www.daptechnology.com or by sending an e-mail to info(at)daptechnology.com.
