Imagination and Samsung announce latest POWERVR SDK supports new Samsung Galaxy Tab
Tablet delivers advanced OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics under Android 2.2 OS
IFA, Berlin, September 3rd 2010: Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia and communications technologies company, announces that the new Samsung Galaxy Tab is fully supported by Imagination’s POWERVR Insider SDK for Android.
Developers will be able to use the SDK as part of their application development workflow to enable stunning high-quality and high-performance graphics on the new tablet which is built around the Samsung SC5C110 application processor containing POWERVR SGX540 graphics acceleration technology.
Says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination: "POWERVR is already well established as the leading graphics acceleration technology in mobile phones – and now we see our technology establishing itself as the leader in the exciting tablet space too. Samsung LSI has already made a significant impact in the industry with its POWERVR enabled SC5C110 processor, which already powers a number of well received mobile phones from Samsung Mobile. As part of our close partnership, we are delighted to provide comprehensive SDK support for the new Samsung Galaxy Tab from its launch.”
Says Phil Northam, global relations manager, Samsung: "Imagination’s industry leading SDKs, tools and dedicated technical support have been a significant asset for developers targeting the growing range of Samsung’s mobile devices. We are delighted that they are supporting the new Samsung Galaxy Tab from launch, and we expect the growing community of tablet application developers, many of whom are already very experienced with POWERVR graphics, to seize the opportunities this new platform presents."
