DxO Labs Programmable Core and Image Processing Technology Designed to Drive State-of-the-Art Image Quality for Connected Devices
DxO ISP and Marvell team up to offer dynamic, stunning image quality and camera performance to smartphones, tablets and digital cameras Photokina 2010
COLOGNE, Germany-- September 20, 2010 --As the Photokina trade show begins, DxO Labs and Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) announce a licensing agreement to integrate DxO Labs programmable hardware core and image processing technology into Marvell® ARMADA™ application processors.
“We are pleased to work with DxO Labs, a leading imaging company, to enhance the image quality offered through ARMADA application processors,” said Hongyi Chen, Vice President of Engineering, Marvell Processor Group and Application Processor R&D. “The DxO ISP offers our mobile customers stunning image quality for mobile connected consumer devices like cameras using low cost raw sensors or video cameras and image capture oriented devices.”
“We are very excited to partner with Marvell to bring to market our DxO ISP camera image processing hardware” says Mr Jerôme Ménière, Chairman and CEO of DxO Labs. “Marvell customers will benefit from DxO Labs image quality but they can also differentiate their products by using optional software add-ons from DxO Labs such as extended depth of field (DxO DOP) or self learning pixel corrections (DxO DPP).”
About DxO ISP
DxO ISP is built on a programmable and configurable hardware core. This programmable SIMD core is optimized for imaging tasks, delivering speed improvements of up to 240x compared with common main processors.
DxO ISP programmable core customers can update their video and still camera algorithms for new pixel generation, develop quickly new features, and differentiate by adding easily new features internally, from DxO Labs or from third parties.
DxO ISP is delivered with advanced calibration and image quality tuning tools allowing seamless integration with the sensor and lens. Thanks to its advanced denoising algorithms, it enables superior performance in low light environments. DxO ISP includes advanced features for video such as temporal filtering, video stabilization and for still capture such as zero shutter lag and high dynamic range.
