Richtek Adopts SpringSoft Laker Software for Custom Design and Layout of Power-Management ICs
HSINCHU, Taiwan--September 27, 2010--SpringSoft, Inc., a global supplier of specialized IC design software, today announced that Richtek Technology Corporation, Taiwan-based analog IC company and one of the world’s leading power management IC design service providers, has standardized on its Laker Advanced Design Platform (ADP) for design entry, and Laker™ Custom Layout Automation System for custom chip design and implementation. Laker software products enable Richtek design teams to meet the time-to-market, cost and design complexity challenges of bringing cutting-edge power management solutions to a diverse range of electronics systems.
Richtek is the world's largest supplier of power management ICs for desktop computer motherboards, as well as a leading provider of power management ICs widely used in handsets, digital still cameras, networked communication equipments, large-sized flat panel displays, notebooks, and much more. By integrating the Laker ADP and layout products into Richtek’s design methodology, the company has created a complete, highly automated custom design flow for producing superior results in less time. The Laker ADP environment includes an intuitive, full-featured schematic editor with open simulation console and waveform analyzer; patented Laker Magic Cell (MCell™) technology that automates device generation, editing and manipulation; and the Laker schematic-driven layout (SDL) flow to speed the physical implementation of custom circuits.
“We are focused on delivering the most competitive power management IC products, most comprehensive system solutions, and highest quality design services. In order to meet these standards, it is imperative that our design teams have a consistent, proven chip design flow capable of supporting custom requirements across a broad range of applications,” said KC Chang, vice president of Richtek. “With Laker, SpringSoft provides the automation technologies and technical support needed to deal with tighter development schedules and to give our customers the competitive edge with their latest products.”
“Richtek is a valued and long-time customer, and we appreciate the trust their design teams have in Laker, relying on our tools and flows in much the same way that companies rely on Richtek’s IC solutions and expertise,” said JT Li, vice president of Physical Design Technology and Products Group at SpringSoft. “By providing an efficient platform for custom chip design and layout, Laker makes it easier for Richtek to meet the specific needs of its customers, while delivering a new generation of cost-effective power management ICs.”
