Rohde & Schwarz and Blue Wonder Communications to demonstrate TD-LTE functionality at 4G World in Chicago
Columbia, MD, October 18, 2010 -- Rohde & Schwarz, a premium supplier of test and measurement solutions to the wireless industry, and Blue Wonder, an independent design house and licensor of LTE IP and system solutions, today announced a joint demonstration at 4G World 2010 in Chicago, Illinois, from October 18 through October 21 at Rohde & Schwarz booth (BoothU 627).
Blue Wonder Communications and Rohde & Schwarz have teamed up to demonstrate one of the latest market trends showing their TD-LTE capabilities. The demonstration utilizes Blue Wonder Communication’s BWC200 LTE IP reference solution and Rohde & Schwarz R&S®CMW500 Wideband Radio Communication Tester. The R&S®CMW500, a multistandard platform, is supporting the latest development in 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards and is the most comprehensive test solution in the market for chipset and handset development, and for emerging technologies like LTE and HSPA+, EDGE evolution or VAMOS.
Blue Wonder Communication’s BWC200 is capable of handling FDD and TD-LTE on the same architecture and is therefore the ideal IP solution for customers to deploy multi-mode LTE devices worldwide. The BWC200 reference platform utilizes the proven protocol stack from 4M Wireless for the 4G World demonstration. The 4M Wireless LTE protocol stack is deployed in several commercially available LTE UE solutions and has undergone significant IOT to date.
The demonstration is the result of joint testing activities for TD-LTE. A connection is established between the R&S®CMW500, acting as TD-LTE base station emulator, and the BWC200, realizing a 2x2 MIMO setup. The connection is verified by streaming a highdefinition video in downlink and uplink, which is visualized on two external notebooks.
“Partnering with Rohde & Schwarz on TD-LTE testing gives confidence to our customers to have a fully verified and tested solution available for going to market quickly”, comments Dr. Wolfram Drescher, Managing Director at Blue Wonder Communications. “Discovering the performance of BWC200 LTE-IP at the 4G World in Chicago is a good opportunity to get an impression of what the coming advanced multimode LTE solutions are able to achieve.”
“This joint demonstration is another example of the broad application range of the R&S®CMW500 used as LTE Protocol Tester supporting, not only the latest changes and developments in LTE FDD, but moreover also for TD-LTE.” says Anton Messmer, director of subdivision for mobile radio testers at Rohde & Schwarz.
“We are pleased to be demonstrating and further testing our solution with the Rohde & Schwarz R&S®CMW500,” added Atif Malik, CEO of 4M Wireless. “The 4M Wireless LTE protocol stack is fully integrated with the reference baseband solution from Blue Wonder Communications and this event further proves the TD-LTE capabilities of all involved.”
