Mentor Graphics and Rohde & Schwarz Deliver a Hardware-Accelerated Debug Platform for Verifying Wireless Communication SoCs
WILSONVILLE, Ore., November 22, 2010 – Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDQ: MENT), a leader in advanced system verification solutions, and Rohde & Schwarz, a leading supplier of electronic test and measurement equipment, today announced they have collaborated to deliver a hardware-accelerated, debug platform for the verification of wireless communication Systems-on-Chip (SoCs).
The combination of Mentor’s Veloce® hardware emulation technology with Rohde & Schwarz’s superior test and measurement equipment delivers a high-performance and productive environment for handling the verification of wireless communication systems. The goal of both companies is to help bring complex SoC designs to market on schedule, without compromising verification accuracy or performance.
Rohde & Schwarz is established as the largest supplier of electronic test and measurement (T&M) solutions in Europe, and they are setting standards worldwide in multiple business fields, such as wireless communication, broadcasting, and secure communications. The Rohde & Schwarz T&M tools provide a quick and efficient test environment for wireless communication systems, such as WCDMA and LTE, which is critical for the verification of next-generation wireless SoC designs.
“As a market leader in the development and delivery of electronic test and measurement systems, Rohde & Schwarz is committed to providing the best possible verification solutions for our customers. By combining with Mentor and the Veloce emulator, we can show our customers a high-speed platform that allows them to perform SoC test and integration many weeks or months before they are committed to real silicon, increasing their verification productivity and improving their time-to-market,” said Gerhard Goetz, product manager, Mobile Radio Protocol Testers from Rohde & Schwarz. “Our customers will be able to access a virtual hardware environment that mimics the functionality of their real silicon to debug their wireless communication chips at high-speeds using our standard test and measurement equipment and software tools.”
The Veloce platform with dual mode accelerator and emulator provides high performance for both transaction-based verification and traditional in-circuit emulation (ICE). With an extensive portfolio of vertical market solutions, the Veloce product is the platform of choice for wireless, networking, multimedia, and embedded systems applications.
“We are extremely pleased with our collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz to implement this high-performance solution for wireless communication applications, and extend our ability to deliver the industry’s premier accelerated hardware and software solutions,” said Jim Kenney, Mentor Emulation Division (MED) director of marketing. “Our combined industry-leading technologies deliver reliable and easy-to-use verification solutions that help our joint customers to innovate and meet their time-to-market pressures for their SoC designs. By teaming with Rohde & Schwarz, we continue to expand the iSolve™ solutions for use with the Veloce product.”
