eSilicon names Lawrence Conrad as general manager of Semiconductor Manufacturing Services business unit
SMS business unit established to address growing customer demand
SUNNYVALE, California – December 02, 2010 - eSilicon Corporation, the largest independent semiconductor Value Chain Producer (VCP), today announced it has hired Lawrence Conrad as vice president and general manager for its recently formed Semiconductor Manufacturing Services (SMS) business unit.
The SMS business unit provides value-added services and resources to customers who want to entrust their production activities to a manufacturing expert who can significantly reduce their OPEX+COGS, enabling customers to focus their own resources on market differentiating activities. Conrad will be responsible for creating and implementing global plans and strategies to deliver service levels exceeding expectations of eSilicon's SMS customers and partners. He will report directly to Jack Harding, chairman, president and CEO of eSilicon.
"To address our customers' growing need to augment production management and logistics of products already in the manufacturing phase, we created the SMS business unit. We expect strong growth as we implement a global focus," said Jack Harding. "We hired Lawrence for his experience in customer interface and supply chain and operations management at Solectron, Freescale and SunPower. We are pleased to have such a strong player join our team."
"I'm honored to join eSilicon, a company that thrives on continual innovation," said Lawrence Conrad. "I am excited to take on the leadership of this new business unit and look forward to executing customer-focused strategies to address our customers' manufacturing operations needs."
Lawrence Conrad's 25-year career has spanned sales, supply chain and operations management. After successfully selling semiconductors in distribution and as a manufacturer's rep, Conrad joined Solectron Corporation. During his seven-year stint at Solectron, Conrad started in semiconductor commodity management, moved on to managing the networking/telecom business unit and finished as chief procurement officer (CPO). Following the Flextronics acquisition of Solectron, Conrad joined Freescale Semiconductor as CPO, and then moved on to SunPower Corporation as VP, where he was responsible for all supply chain, procurement and logistics activities. Conrad earned his Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Santa Barbara.
