Genesys Logic's GL3310 Receives the First USB-IF SuperSpeed USB Bus-Power Certificate
Taipei, Taiwan -- December 14, 2010 -- Genesys Logic Inc. (OTC: 6104), the leader in mixed-signal and high-speed I/O technologies, announced that its USB 3.0 to SATA 3Gb/s bridge controller, GL3310, has been certified by USB-IF (USB-Implementers Forum) for SuperSpeed USB bus-powered products (TID: 310740000, 311740000) and has been adopted by Kingston Technology for their new USB 3.0 products. This exciting news demonstrates Genesys Logic’s excellence in product quality and its industry-leading expertise in low power technology. Compared with conventional USB self-powered products, USB bus-powered products can provide identical performance but with lower power consumption. It makes GL3310 more environmentally friendly than other products on the market and enables GL3310 to meet European Union's EuP power saving specifications without any sacrifice in performance. GL3310's versatility allows it to be used in various portable peripheral products such as USB flash drives, external solid-state drives, and portable external hard drives. The USB-IF certification program provides standardized compliance testing procedures for specific product features and their compatibility; a certified product is registered in the USB Integrators List and granted the right to use the USB-IF certification logo.
GL3310 USB 3.0 to SATA 3Gb/s bridge controller features a variety of advanced I/O technologies, such as USB 3.0 PHY, USB 2.0 PHY and SATA PHY, all developed in-house by Genesys Logic. By inheriting its technology leadership from its predecessor, the GL830 USB 2.0 to SATA bridge chip, GL3310 not only sports the super high transmission speed but also maintains the compatibility with all sorts of USB hosts and SATA devices while offering the best-in-class cost structure. Besides its higher transmission speed, GL3310 also supplies various peripheral control functions, such as two SPI interfaces, PWM control, and several general purpose I/Os (GPIO) to satisfy customers’ diverse product requirements.
GL3310 is available in two packages: 64-pin LQFP and 48-pin QFN. In addition to GL3310, Genesys Logic also offers a product line of medium-to-high end external hard drive controller chips with customized encryption functions.
