Tensilica's Broadly-Licensed DSP Cores Delivers Quick Implementation for SRS Advanced Audio Suite on DTV SOCs
SANTA ANA, Calif., December 21, 2010 -SRS Labs, officially recognized as one of America's Greatest Brands and the industry leader in surround sound, audio and voice technologies, and Tensilica, Inc., , today announced that Tensilica is the first intellectual property (IP) core supplier to commercially support SRS StudioSound HD, the latest and most advanced all-in-one audio solution available for flat panel televisions and home theater sound bar manufacturers. Availability of SRS StudioSound HD on Tensilica's HiFi audio DSP further extends Tensilica's lead as the most popular audio IP core supplier for home entertainment systems. Thus implementation enables delivery of the most advanced audio enhancement solutions to DTV SOC (system-on-chip) makers worldwide.

SRS StudioSound HD automatically detects and levels abrupt volume fluctuations that normally occur when programming switches to commercial break or while changing channels. It also intelligently separates vocals from all other content and dynamically adjusts the dialog level to ensure that it's always clearly understood. Additionally, StudioSound HD delivers an immersive front rendered surround sound experience using built-in TV speakers, significantly enhancing depth and dimension and further improves accuracy of surround rendering from SRS 5.1 or other surround encoded 2-channel content being streamed directly from the web.
