Silicon Image Expands Its Low-Power Camera Processor IP Core Family to Support 3D Video and Resolutions Up to 64MP
camerIC™-3D/64MP Image Signal Processor Targeted for Mobile 3D and High Resolution Still Picture and Video Applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 8, 2011 – Silicon Image (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leader in advanced, interoperable HD connectivity solutions for consumer electronics, today introduced the camerIC™-3D/64MP, the newest member of its camerIC family of camera processor IP cores capable of supporting 3D and up to 8Kx8K (64 megapixel) still images and video. camerIC-3D/64MP is optimized for integration into low-power video system-on-chip (SoC) application processors for mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets, netbooks, digital still cameras (DSCs) and camcorders as well as video surveillance systems.
In addition to its DSC capabilities supporting up to 64MP resolution, the camerIC camera pipeline has the imaging bandwidth to support 3D 1080p resolution at up to 120 frames per second. 8MP resolution at 30 frames per second to implement in hardware, while consuming as little as 125mW of power and needing only 30MIPS of CPU bandwidth, makes the camerIC-3D/64MP one of the industry’s highest performing, lowest cost and lowest power camera processors.
The camerIC family of IP technology supports resolutions ranging from 3MP up to 64MP. It offers a design that can be customized to meet customers’ requirements and is capable of performing 3D image processing.
“Silicon Image continues to enhance its production-proven camera processor technology to deliver very high-bandwidth, low-power pixel processing capabilities for use in mobile SoCs,” said Ron Richter, director of worldwide IP core licensing at Silicon Image, Inc. “Higher resolution and multi-sensor 3D imaging applications are expected to enter the marketplace in just a few years, and our latest camerIC IP will enable our customers to meet and exceed those requirements.”
Silicon Image’s camerIC IP cores continue to deliver high quality images with sophisticated features, offering IC manufacturers a comprehensive SoC solution. These features include:
- Bad pixel detection/correction
- Noise reduction techniques
- Wide dynamic range processing
- Digital image stabilization
- Lens shade correction
- Auto focus measurement
- Auto white balance
- Auto exposure support by brightness measurement
